African-American comedian and actress Mo’Nique has accused Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels of tarnishing her career, having it that she has been blackballed by Hollywood.
The 49-year-old mother of four made the allegations during a Mother’s Day show at the Apollo while one of her fans videoed and shared her rants online.
Blowing off steam on the stage, Mo’Nique said, “No, I was not blackballed, I was white-balled by some black d—ks who had no balls” the comedian said, implying that it was white men who actually blackballed her, while everyone else allowed it to happen…. So, thank you, Mr. Lee Daniels. Thank you, Mr. Tyler Perry. Thank you, Ms. Oprah Winfrey. No, baby, I wasn’t blackballed… It would kill me not to say the real s—t. You are not paying me equally. You are not treating me fairly. Y’all could suck my d—k if I had one.“
In 2015, Mo’Nique had claimed that Lee Daniels had offered her the role of Cookie Lyon on Empire as well as Oprah Winfrey’s role in The Butler.
However, co-creator of Empire, Danny Strong, denied that Mo’Nique was ever considered for the role of Cookie.
