The Nigerian society is challenged, and until individuals and organizations start being responsible for the masses, the change Nigerians have long clamored for might never happen.
It is not an arguable subject to say Nigeria is a developing country. Despite the West Africa country’s wealth in natural resources, people still suffer from abject poverty hopelessly. In view of this, Joy Ikedinma Fakhoury finds reason to establish Miss Nigeria USA Cares, a subsidiary of the pageantry.
Since idleness is the basic reason for poverty and increase in crime rate, Joy with her multidimensional initiatives design a platform to connect all Nigerians to serve of humanity. This happens through volunteerism and community engagement locally, nationally, and globally.
According to Joy, MNUSA acknowledges the importance of ‘giving back’ and the power of ‘togetherness’. She seeks to address the basics of service of humanity. Joy said, “Our goal is to produce socially engaged young leaders and promote the spirit of community engagement and service, through volunteerism.“
Among the many programs that has so far been of beneficiary to people is #ShareASkill project, a part of Skill Development and Vocational Training, where individuals will have the opportunity to acquire a new skill which would help change their lives and make a difference in their families and communities at large.
The skill focused on include – Photography, Makeup Artistry and Baking, with over 80 youths who benefited from the skill training in 4 different cities/states in Nigeria.
Joy maintains that the main objective of the project, is to combat some societal menace. She said, “the program is to combat violent extremism, youth unemployment and within 12 months enhance entrepreneurship skills of young people through entrepreneurship training and mentoring.“
Sometime in May, Joy launched a new fashion and lifestyle blog called, “The Casual Chic Style“. On the blog, she’s been sharing information about her daily fashion and lifestyle as well as places she has been to.
More so, same year, Joy gushed over the success of her pageantry show. The Miss Nigeria USA 2017, held in August and it’s no doubt one of the events to be remembered.
