Africa records an outstanding achievement and this time, it’s credited to the continent’s health sector.
On Saturday, March 24, the first ever eye color change surgery in Africa, was successfully done in Morocco.
On the said day, a 21-year-old patient had her eye color changed from brown to blue.
The record-making surgery which lasted 30 minutes, was supervised by a team of Spanish doctors, who worked alongside with Dr. Chahbi, a specialist in ophthalmology, who used a low-pain technique with few side effects, which involves injecting a pigment into the inner layers of the cornea.
The surgery which cost $1,632 and $1,959, had dyes made of oxidized iron that offers a wide range of colors choice, to green, blue, gray or brown.
